We recently completed an activity with some of our prep kitchen employees focusing on the feeling of pride. Each employee was asked to draw a picture of themselves feeling proud. Then, they went around and described their physical appearance when they feel proud of themselves. Some said their smiles get bigger than normal, others said they blushed. Some drew pictures of what they're most proud of: being a good owner to their pets, helping people in need, cooking a delicious meal.

Smiles all around 😃😄😁

We were excited to host a group of students from Wheat Ridge High School for a job exploration field trip earlier this week! Juicing fruit for citrus vin and cutting and blanching the fries were some of the students’ favorite tasks! Hopefully we see some of the students filling out job applications at Steamers in the future!

It’s a VERY special day at Steamers. Ten years ago, our employee, Chays, was an Elementary school student in Ms. Annie’s class. Today, Chays led Ms. Annie’s current class on a tour of the restaurant and Prep Kitchen. Thank you, Ms. Annie, for helping Chays gain the skills he needed to be a great employee. And thank you, Chays, for setting such a great example for the students today! We love our employees and our community! ❤️

Our Sous Chef, Adryan, taught a knife skills lesson (using play dough) to our Prep Kitchen employees with disabilities! He taught them the “claw method” for how to tuck their fingers while cutting. This comes after a month long unit focusing on fine motor skill development and muscle stabilization. Meet Elsa! She was the first employee with a disability that we hired and words cannot espresso how glad we are that she’s been on our team for the past 11 years! Speaking of teams, she’s arguably the worlds biggest Denver Broncos fan. When asked what she loves most, Elsa replied “Steamers and Broncos!”. So, if you love the broncos even a fraction as much as what Elsa does, come by and watch us take on the Chiefs tonight at 6:15!
